HEADLINES: Early mail-in voting starts; Has Talarico given up?; Christopher Rufo on the Indian-American immigration debate

The News of Today is the History of Tomorrow

IN POLITICAL NEWS

1) We have EARLY (and I stress early) returns from WI, which absentee voting is down a lot (18%), particularly in the big blue cities. So watch for the pollsters to hedge, wiggle, and explain. Now it's, "Republican voters are hard to reach." So . . . what? You just poll more DemoKKKrats? Yeah, I thought so. Seth Keshel argues that MI=7---a key race if DemoKKKrats have any chance at the House---is probably going to the Republican. Combined with the NY17 polling with Mike Lawler ahead, my own hunch that Max Miller will hold on in OH7, and that Jay Feely will win AZ 1, Rs are inching closer to the magic 218, maybe now at around 213 safe. Meanwhile, good old "unbiased" Apple News hid stories about how broke the DemoKKKrats are.

2) Is Talcumpowder giving up on blacks? He canceled a campaign event to have "outreach" to them. In fact, he apparently has been missing for over 11 days.

3) Shipwreckedcrew argues that the Oleaginous Butyraceous Gruesome is desperate to get Cackles out of the race early. I agree with his assessment, as she WILL be the de facto fall-back if it gets to primary season.

6) President Trump has approved a firing squad execution for the Ft. Hood shooter, Nidel Hasan who killed 13 and wounded dozens in 2009. Meanwhile, murderer Christa Pike, who's execution was botched, is now back awake and talking. This case will go on for years now. She will die a natural death before it's resolved. And this landmark case says males can be the victims of sexual harassment.

7) The Feds arrested multiple suspects in the "Shiny Hunters" case that hacked the FBI. Odd. They can find those people instantly but still can't seem to arrest Smarmy Chris Wray or Brennanski for treason. But in AZ, hackers into the state's court system got personal information on over one million people.

IN CULTURAL NEWS

9) Economic historian Joel Mokyr, whom I got to meet many years ago when I was in the economic history biz, has a new book called The Grim Old Days showing that anyone who wants to "go back" hasn't looked at what life was really like.

10) Christopher Rufo discusses the Indian-immigration debate. I think, like any immigrants---I would even add Muslims---but following in the pattern of the Irish, Italians, Germans, and Asians, Americans welcome some immigrants of almost any stripe. However, there are three conditions in American minds: 1) they must assimilate. That does NOT mean they cannot have St. Patrick's Day or home-of-origin holiday celebrations, but those must never become AMERICAN national holidays. Rather the practice has been by most Americans to view these as quaint, interesting additions to our culture, not subtractions or threats. No, Kollyfornia should NOT have any Muslim holidays. St. Paddy's day got so entrenched (in the 1840s) that it's impossible to de-establish it now, but no more. The question of mosques is tricky. I think they must be allowed; sharia law never, and it should be watched like a hawk. Any violator deported. 2) Immigrants cannot wholesale take American jobs, whether through H1B or anything else. Certainly pay scales have to be watched, so that companies are penalized for replacing Americans with cheaper foreign labor here. And 3) a critical mass must not be permitted of any foreign group, particularly one unassimilated.

11) As a writer, I am constantly reading others, looking for interesting ways to say things. Obviously, I'd recommend A Patriot's History of the United States 15th Anniversary Ed., to anyone.

But if you're into history---and I know this is a big, big ask---do yourself a favor and get the entire 8-vol series by the great Allan Nevins. I am flabberghasted by how deeply he seems to "know" these people from the 1850s, right down to their hair, countenance, and demeanor. Truly a masterpiece.

IN ECONOMIC NEWS

13) David Blackmon, the Rush Limbaugh of Energy, explains why despite re-opening the Strait of MAGA, gas and diesel prices remain stubbornly high. Much of it has to do with the draining of reserves that occurred.

15) The Starburqa scam has always been convincing people that high-calorie/high-sugar drinks were just "coffee." Now one of its latest protien drinks is found to have more sugar than a Reese peanut butter cup.

IN INTERNATIONAL NEWS

16) French leftoid-Muslim riots have intensified. Again, too late? We'll see, but France has ratcheted up citizenship removal orders for Islamic terrorists. Why were Islamic terrorists allowed in your stupid country in the first place, ya cheese-eating surrender monkeys? At any rate, 500 schools were closed thanks to leftoids and The Religion of Peace (TROP ™). Now, of course, the New York Slimes is trying to make this about "da youts" and students over something or other. Right. And World War II was about the Seventh-Day Adventists in Peru.

17) The Huns' former top spy was arrested on charges of treason and espionage. Wish that would happen here to a certain KGB plant named Brennanski.

18) Look at all the ways in which the ChiCom economy is down: construction output, fixed asset investment, property investment down 19%. Or, as this analyst says, you're looking at a minimum of 3% GDP drop right there. It seems the ChiComs are focusing on hacking other nations' banking systems with AI, as occurred with South Korea.

20) The B-1s were withdrawn from Mediocre Britain because of intel reporting an Iranian drone attack, which apparently the Medicore Brits couldn't counter because they are too busy sucking up to the Muslim grooming gangs. Here, a UK Home Secretary says that almost all female migrants are raped before arriving in Mediocre Britain. Ah, the joys of immigrants improving our lives.

21) There are concerns in Russia after a lab employee died at a plague facility. The Russkies say, "Nyet, no plague escaped." Course, these are the same guys who say they have won the Uke war.

22) Odd, isn't it? Solar is supposed to be soooooo good, but no one can make a profit on it. The largest Portuguese solar company, owned by the Brits, has filed for insolvency.

IN ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

24) Eva Marie Saint, Oscar winner for "On the Waterfront," dead at 102.

25) 'll admit that I like a lot of Miley Cyrus's songs. I'll also admit she is looney-tunes. Her latest album suffered the largest collapse in Billboard history, falling 157 places in a week.

26) One of the few genres pretty much guaranteed to make movie money is a film taken from a game. "Resident Evil" has raked in nearly $250 million so far on a $75 million budget, so it's pretty close to profitable already.

IN MEDICAL NEWS

27) This study says people with ADHD are three times more likely to get dementia. The problem is, ADHD is still a suspicious diagnoses. As one comedian said, back in the day we used to call people with ADHD stupid.

AND FINALLY . . .

28) With just one more hurdle to clear, the S.S. United States will be sunk off FL to become the world's largest artificial reef. Dunno, somehow images from "The Deep" flash into my mind, and I'm not talking Jacqueline Bisset's t-shirt. At any rate, if this works, the Iranians might have the greatest artificial reef ever, giving how many of their crapwad ships we've sunk.
