IN POLITICAL NEWS

1) Kegger Kavanaugh rejected MO's appeal to use its new redistricting map favoring Rs, saying it must be put to a public referendum. That forces me to revise downward my House precition to R 220. This seat still isn't gone, but it's no longer a lock. If I understand the legal rationale, this is pretty much what the courts said to VA as well. Then, just minutes after Kegger gave his decision, another fed judge in a different case said, "Nope, the first 7:1 map was ok." I don't know that anyone knows what's going on here. Zen Master explains that Kegger struck down a state decision, while the federal judge for now has the final ruling until or unless he is specifically overruled by the Supes.

2) Faux News has five good reasons the DemoKKKrat Fascist Socialists will continue to move the party to the far, far, far, far left.

3) WY looks like a great place to live, with Rs crushing it in voter registrations, since 2020 Rs +69,000 net.

16) The head of the Smithsonian will resign. Good. He was DEI through and through, as many of the exhibits show.

17) Also good. The TX Board of Education approved textbook changes that tie "radical Islam" to the 9/11 attacks. As it should be. Except they might want to mention that all Islam is radical.

18) "Trumponomics" triumphs in latest jobs report. Even the New York Slimes has to call the numbers "zesty."

10) The Trump administration facilitated a loan that will restart an IA nuke plant.

20) The Department of Labor has suspended all of India-based Cognizant's visa filings.

21) A Johns Hopkins team found a way to drastically reduce fabrication time for carbon-carbon composites. Here's my little carbon-carbon story. Sometime around 1989-1990 I was doing contract work for the USAF on a then secret program called the "X-30/National Aerospace Plane" to create a single-stage-to-orbit jet that would takeoff and land like a regular jet. It would use hypersonic engines to reach Mach 25 in the atmosphere before tilting up. To do so required fantastic materials breakthroughs, esp. in carbon-carbon composites. I went to General Dynamics, one of the airframe makers, in Dallas and the guy I was interviewing said "hold out your hand." He put about a 3" piece of Shuttle leading wing edge in my hand. It felt like an anvil. He then said, "Now try this." Same exactly dimensions, same look but it was carbon-carbon. Light as a feather. So if we can get these kinds of materials happening fast and cheap? Who knows what's possible?

27) It's bad enough they can't stop an invasion of unarmed Moroccans, but the Spanish gubment wants to raise taxes on gas and oil even as they swelter. Morons isn't a strong enough word.
